PREMIUM RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM IN SWEDEN
AN INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE IN SWEDEN
Spend a season in Sweden developing in a professional environment built for ambitious football players.
Freddie Academy’s Gap Year Program is designed for players who want more than just another season. It is for those who want to train with purpose, live like an pro athlete, experience football in Sweden, and prepare for the next step in their journey — whether that means college soccer, a professional opportunity, or simply reaching a new level as a player.
This is not just a training program. It is a complete player experience built around development, structure, exposure, and growth.
THE US COLLEGE SOCCER PATHWAY
The recruitment process is all about timing. Joining Freddie Academy’s residential program for a season of intensive soccer development after high school can significantly boost your value as a prospect. The combination of elite training, competition experience, maturity, and physical growth will help you catch the attention of top coaches.
As international recruitment expands each year and more coaches scout players globally, competing abroad becomes a valuable opportunity for any ambitious young player seeking new challenges.
A gap year also offers eligibility advantages. The time you spend at Freddie Academy won’t impact your eligibility if you’ve just graduated from high school, allowing you to preserve future opportunities and make more informed decisions about your soccer career.

LIVE THE PLAYER LIFESTYLE
At Freddie Academy, development goes beyond the training pitch.
Players follow a structured daily routine built around football, strength work, recovery, meals, analysis, club exposure, and personal growth. The weekday schedule in the program material includes breakfast, Freddie Academy training, strength & conditioning, lunch and rest, Swedish club training, dinner, and lights out. Weekends include recovery, leisure, video analysis, and individual talks.
This structure helps players build better habits, improve faster, and experience what it means to live like a serious athlete.
It is not only about becoming a better footballer. It is also about becoming more disciplined, more independent, and more prepared for the next level.
EXPERIENCE FOOTBALL IN SWEDEN
One of the most valuable parts of the program is the chance to experience football in Sweden.
Freddie Academy states that it works with clubs in Gothenburg to place players in team environments that suit their level and profile. Players can train with Swedish teams, adapt to a different football culture, receive feedback from club coaches, and in some cases move closer to competition opportunities depending on the club’s decision.
That experience matters.
Training in a new football culture challenges players to adapt, learn faster, and grow in ways that are difficult to replicate at home. It also strengthens a player profile for future opportunities by adding international experience and a more mature football background.
DEVELOP EVERY PART OF YOUR GAME
The Freddie Academy experience is built to support the complete player.
Technical Development
Training is highly ball-oriented and technique-focused, with close attention to detail and repetition. Freddie Academy places technical ability at the center of modern player development.
Position-Specific Training
Different positions demand different qualities. Sessions are tailored to the needs of attackers, midfielders, defenders, and goalkeepers, helping players work on the demands of their actual role in the game.
Strength & Conditioning
Physical development is a major part of the program. Our strength work is individualized, football-oriented, and supervised by coaches, with a focus on becoming stronger, more explosive, more agile, and more resilient.
Video Analysis and Feedback
Players do not just train — they also learn. Weekly video analysis helps players understand their performances better, identify what to improve, and study the demands of the game at a higher level.
Mentality and Personal Growth
Freddie Academy also highlights the importance of confidence, focus, mental strength, and the right environment. The program is built to support players not only on the field, but also in the way they think, prepare, and handle pressure.
OFF THE FIELD SUPPORT
Top-level development is never only about what happens during training.
Freddie Academy’s material highlights several important off-the-field elements, including nutrition guidance, healthy meal options, weekly video work, psychological and mental support, injury prevention, and rehab access.
The program also describes insurance coverage and collaboration with IFK Kliniken Rehab in Gothenburg, located within the same broader facility environment, allowing players to access treatment and recovery support close to the pitch.
This gives players a more complete environment — one where performance, health, and long-term growth are all taken seriously.
